Flinders University was founded in 1966 and named after Matthew Flinders, a British navigator who explored the South Australian coast in 1802. It is a member of the Australian Innovation University Alliance. Flinders University, as one of the top universities in Australia, ranks 10th in the list of Australian universities and ranks as the top 2% in the world. Flinders University ranks 424th in the QS World University Ranking in 2020 and 388th in the US NEWS world university ranking in 2019.
In Flinders, teaching is considered to be the most important, the proportion of staff and students is higher than the average level in Australia, and students have more contact opportunities with teaching and research personnel. There are 631 teachers and 946 staff in the University, 79.4% of them have advanced degrees. The four departments of the university offer more than 40 bachelor's degrees, and all disciplines have graduate programs. More than 1,700 of the 15,110 students are international students from 75 countries.
The main campus is located in Adelaide, 10 kilometers away from the city center, with an area of 180 hectares. The new building complex alternates with flowers, trees, lakes and parks. The school has four libraries providing students with spacious reading and learning places.
Flinders agrees to accept applications from DUFE Students who are studying the DUFE Course for admission into Flinders Courses, granting credit/advanced standing for those Flinders Courses.
